Ham and Cheese Roll-Ups
Ingredients:
- 8 slices of bread, crusts removed
- 8 slices of ham
- 8 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter
Preparation:
- Flatten the Bread: Lay each slice of bread on a flat surface and use a rolling pin to flatten them evenly.
- Assemble the Roll-Ups: Place one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each piece of flattened bread. Roll the bread tightly around the ham and cheese to form a roll-up.
- Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Coat the Roll-Ups: Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are thoroughly coated.
- Cook the Roll-Ups: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter has melted and is sizzling, place the roll-ups in the skillet. Cook them until all sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve: Remove the roll-ups from the skillet and let them cool slightly before serving.
