Salted Caramel Banana Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a larger bowl, cream together brown sugar and room-temperature butter until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in sour cream, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Salted Caramel Glaze: While the bread is cooling, make the glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt brown sugar and butter until the sugar is dissolved (about 1 minute). Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream. Add powdered sugar and kosher salt, whisking until smooth.
- Glaze the Bread: Allow the glaze to cool for about 5 minutes, then drizzle it over the cooled banana bread.
Baker’s Notes:
– For best results, pour the glaze while it’s still slightly warm.
– To enhance flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter before baking.
