Ooey Gooey Bars
Ingredients
For the crust:
- 1 egg
- 1 stick of softened butter
- 1 box of yellow cake mix
For the filling:
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 16 oz powdered sugar
- 8 oz softened cream cheese
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a baking dish and set it aside.
- Prepare the Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the crust ingredients: the egg, softened butter, and yellow cake mix. Mix well until you have a dry mixture. Press this mixture into the bottom of the greased baking dish to form an even crust layer.
- Prepare the Filling: In another bowl, blend together the softened cream cheese, vanilla essence, and eggs. Set aside ΒΌ of the powdered sugar in a separate small bowl. Gradually add the remaining powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture, mixing continuously to avoid lumps and mess. Mix for approximately 3 minutes until the filling is smooth and creamy.
- Assemble and Bake: Pour the creamy filling over the prepared crust in the baking dish. Spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes. The bars might appear puffy when you take them out, but they will settle as they cool.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely. Once cooled, sprinkle the reserved powdered sugar over the top. Cut into bars and serve to your friends and family.
