Flan Caramel

Ingredients:

  • For the caramel:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • For the flan:
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Caramel:

  1. Prepare the caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and water. Cook without stirring until the sugar dissolves and turns a deep amber color. Swirl the pan occasionally to ensure even caramelization.
  2. Pour the caramel: Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish or individual ramekins, tilting to evenly coat the bottom.
